If you’ve been following Pinterest boards and environmentalists, you’d know that saving the planet is a crusade we all need to get onboard. There aren’t any superheroes coming to save us, so we need to don those capes ourselves. Like they say, there’s no plan B, just like there’s no planet B.
But here’s the silver lining, every little step counts, and you can all be superheroes.
This is where we come in. Giving back to the environment shouldn't be complicated, it could even come from the back of your closet (or your fruit vendor). Paperdom believes in being tree-free and earth-wise, cover to cover, page by page. So the next time you want to scribble or doodle or write or draw, do it guiltlessly. Tear that page, live a little.
How our paper is made!
The history of paper-making is the stuff that makes pulp fiction (pun intended), with the Egyptians using papyrus in the 4th century BC and the Chinese making their version a brisk two centuries later, but over here - our techniques (and materials) are a lot simpler.
We’d not want to bore you with the long version, but we’ll keep it short. We make two different kinds of paper. The first is made out of textile waste, primarily excess cotton rags procured from tailors and textile factories across Gujarat. It’s minimally processed to make white paper, very similar to the paper we know and use today, but just more sustainable and, you know, very good for the planet. It’s then dyed by our team using non-toxic dyes and cut into the perfect size for you to scribble (or pour your soul) into.
Our second form of paper is made using discarded banana fibers (yes, the banana is indeed the most versatile fruit of them all), the true favourite of gym lovers and desi mothers alike. We source our banana pseudostems and fibers from plantations across Gujarat and Maharashtra, mostly when it’s thrown out (make haste, not waste), but the resultant paper is paper unlike any other - sturdy, textured and most importantly, eco-friendly. They create pages that you can’t wait topeelthrough.
